For three days every year since 2015, Language Advocates have been trading their communication threads, on the bustling Khan Academy international forum, for the in-person Language Advocate Convention. It is an annual opportunity to meet one another, to discuss over snacks from around the world, and to talk to the team at the Khan Academy Headquarter, including Salman Khan himself.
Following the user-centric philosophy of Khan Academy, the Language Advocate Convention is driven by advocates. Advocates shape the convention to our needs by bringing our local goals, wishes, and issues to the table, suggesting discussion topics, and leading sessions.
Just one day in, and the 2020 Convention (which runs from 8/12 to 10/12) has already distinguished itself from its predecessors. It is the first fully online Language Advocate Convention. And despite the absence of the beloved international snack bar, the Convention has welcomed almost 50 advocates, doubling the number in 2019 and smashing the attendance record.
