On February 4, Khan Academy Tieng Viet team and all of the teachers of Thong Nhat district in Dong Nai province, including 616 teachers and the school administrators from 23 primary schools, held an official online seminar to assist the school administrators and teachers in using Open School accounts on the free online education platform Khan Academy. Khan Academy is the world’s largest online learning platform for all levels, which is widely used in public and private schools in more than 190 countries.
At the beginning of the seminar, Ms. Le Thi Hong Linh – a representative of the Bureau of Education and Training of Thong Nhat district, stated her willingness to introduce teachers and students to this effective online learning tool that complements the general education program, improves students’ English and self-study skills. In addition, the Bureau of Education and Training of Thong Nhat district expressed their pleasure and appreciation to the Khan Academy Tieng Viet (KATV) team for their active support for the training session and future endeavors.

Following that is the training session of Mr. Nguyen Van Thuynh, the Principal of Nguyen Ba Ngoc Primary School and a pioneer in the use of educational technology and managing Open School accounts on the Khan Academy platform. Mr. Nguyen Van Thuynh instructed over 600 teachers and administrators from 23 primary schools in the Thong Nhat district on how to create an account and operate a school using an online platform. Mr. Nguyen Van Thuynh’s tutorials are both practical and interesting, emphasizing the benefits of the lessons available on Khan Academy platform. This platform enables students to easily access Math courses in a bilingual English-Vietnamese format, minimizing the strain on teachers when they have to assign students to do revisions, and assisting the school administrators in monitoring the learning progress of all students. In addition, the platform has an attractive design and is simple to use. Students can learn and practice solving math problems, and the system will suggest tasks according to their skill level.
Despite being held online, the consultation went fluently. The teachers were all attentive and actively practiced with the trainer. The teachers and KATV team then engaged in a lively Q&A session and shared advice and experiences. Some schools such as Le Loi Primary School, Xuan Thanh Primary School, Nguyen Ba Ngoc Primary School, and Quang Trung Primary School participated actively in discussion, idea contributions, and viewpoints exchanges. This is an encouraging sign that teachers are eager to start using the Khan Academy platform.

During the 2nd semester of the school year 2022-2023, the KATV team is committed to assisting primary schools in Thong Nhat district in utilizing the Khan Academy platform and the Khan Academy Tieng Viet program. This is also the initial step KATV has taken to support the General education program in Mathematics, as well as to assist students in improving their English and self-study skills.
