From July 17 to 29, 2009, VNF staff visited universities in the U.S. to learn about the application and admission procedures for undergraduate programs.
The study tour provided new insight on how U.S. universities changed their views on international students after the recent economic crisis. Specifically, many U.S. universities, especially public schools, want to increase the number of international students to cover the budget cuts from the federal government. Under this circumstance, Vietnamese students have an increased chance of being admitted to well-known U.S. universities. Moreover, the VNF staff learned that the Vietnamese students could study at a two-year community college before transferring to a four-year university.
